What's NewDecember 2007THE MIRACLE NEEDED FOR BLESSED MARIANNE'S CAUSE TO ADVANCEThe bottom line is that we currently do not have any miracle in the hands of a diocesan Tribunal. However, there are several in initial stages being studied, and the office is gathering evidence. When enough preliminary information for a case is presented to us, we consult our medical expert. As the case progresses we must have the necessary records to demonstrate that the cure is inexplicable and that the cure is due to one intercessor in order for it to be brought to a Tribunal. If you are in a happy position to report a miracle, we suggest that you ask the cured one to fill out the Medical Discharge Summary Report and send on to us. The medical expert finds this most useful. BLESSED DAMIAN CAUSEThe Cause of Blessed Damien is in special circumstances. A miracle case to advance his cause has passed the Vatican medical examiners. Yet, although it is very far along, it isn’t over. The Blessed Marianne Cause Office is receiving questions and messages from people who are misreading the information on Blessed Damian given in the press, and are believing the miracle has been completely accepted by the Vatican Commissions. In fact, that miracle case needs a"yes" vote from a panel of theologians to decide whether or not Blessed Damien can be the one credited as intercessor. A miracle case due to Mother’s intercession which took place before her Beatification on May 14, 2005 will not help her cause to progress. A miracle needed for her canonization had to happen after that date. There was a cure of a sick, dying child which took place before that date (May 14, 2005). It was just one of those things that Blessed Marianne did without being credited. | |
